Subscriptions, Credits & Upgrading
How does a subscription work? Do you offer a trial plan?
APITemplate.io is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) product based on a monthly subscription model. Each plan comes with an included number of templates, image and PDF generations, and other features. You can review what's included with each plan on our pricing page, and you may cancel your subscription anytime.
Yes — we offer a free plan for new users. The free plan includes all the core functionality so you can fully evaluate the service before committing. Depending on your usage, you can upgrade to a paid plan at any time.
What if I run out of credit?
Each plan includes a monthly credit (the number of PDF and image generations) that resets every billing cycle. To help you stay ahead of your limit:
- You'll receive an email notification when your usage reaches 80% of your monthly credit.
- You'll receive another email when your usage reaches 100% of your monthly credit.
We do not automatically upgrade your plan when you run out of credit. If you need more generations, you'll need to upgrade your plan manually.
Where can I see my remaining credits and last reset date?
Log in to your account at https://app.apitemplate.io/ and open the Dashboard. The My Subscription panel shows your Credits Used (used vs. total, with a percentage bar) and the Last Reset date, alongside your current plan, price, status, and template usage.
How do I upgrade my plan?
- Log in to your account at https://app.apitemplate.io/ and open the Subscription tab.
- Under Plans, use the Billed Annually / Billed Monthly toggle to pick a billing cycle, then choose the plan that fits your usage.
- Enter your card details (and a coupon code, if you have one), then click Upgrade.
Once upgraded, your new monthly credit and features take effect immediately, and the change is charged at a prorated rate for the remainder of the current month. For a full comparison of plans, see the pricing page.
Do unused credits roll over to the next month?
No. Each plan's monthly credit resets at the start of every billing cycle, and any unused generations do not carry over to the following month.
How is a generation counted?
Each successful PDF or image generation counts as one credit. A multi-page PDF still counts as a single generation, regardless of how many pages it contains. If you have a question about how a specific use case is counted, reach out to us at hello@apitemplate.io.
How do I cancel my subscription?
- Log in to your account at https://app.apitemplate.io/ and go to the Subscription page.
- Click Manage Billing.
- On the Stripe billing page, click Cancel Plan.
Cancelling stops any future charges. There is no proration or refund of unused time in your current billing cycle.
Note on your files after cancelling: while you have an active paid subscription, your generated images and PDFs remain available. On the free plan, generated images are purged after one year.
Can I downgrade my plan?
Yes. When you downgrade, the change is prorated based on the number of days remaining in your current billing cycle, so you're credited for the unused portion of your higher plan. Keep in mind that moving to a lower plan may result in the loss of features or capacity.
Upgrades work the same way: the new plan is charged at a prorated rate for the remainder of the current month.
How am I billed?
Your subscription is a recurring charge billed either monthly or annually — choosing annual billing saves you up to around 20%. All prices are in US dollars (USD).
Enterprise plans also support pay-as-you-go, so you won't be interrupted if you run out of credit during an important project. Instead of upgrading, you're invoiced for any additional usage at the end of the billing cycle. This feature is off by default; email us at hello@apitemplate.io to enable it.
Do you offer custom or enterprise plans?
Yes. Enterprise plans include unlimited templates, the ability to bring your own storage (direct upload to AWS S3), and priority email support. They also support pay-as-you-go billing, which is ideal for variable or spiky usage.
